This was the end of the great Roman Empire as we had known it. The Huns saw a way to take advantage of the weaknesses, the moral and political weaknesses of Rome. The Huns were watching from the outside, looking for such a chance to take advantage of the weaknesses in Roman society to take over the empire. ![]() Those folks who were not interested but wished to protect their family life and integrity simply stayed inside for the day or days. There was the Feast of Saturnalia, where those people who were interested in certain of the various deities as well as immoralities of personal sexual behavior, such as fornication and adultery, as well as various homosexual activities, would come right out in the open to take part in such things and seem to have great fun doing it. But there is history fully as convincing and much more recent that we could possibly use - it is about the Roman Empire. This, of course, would be because the ACLU would call such a thing a religious teaching and consequently off-limits in a public school, but it might be we can give a little history right here.Since Sodom and Gomorrah's history is from scripture, the public schools should not even consider teaching it. Of course, there is the possibility the history was never taught. As we read the reports of the high school students' applying for permission to have club meetings at East High School for gay, lesbian and bisexual students, it brings to mind the well-known reminder that those who forget history will have to live it over.
